“Wreck Cut Loose” is about a woman (the granddaughter) ruminating on a recent break-up, and while she is mature enough not to assign unwarranted blame to the person who has dumped her, she is nonetheless devastated to the point of listening to “old country songs” and drinking heavily, with alcohol fueling her escape (“I’m a wreck, cut loose”).
